Decoupage On Key Holder

We didn’t go anywhere far during the last long weekend so I decided to finish what I have started with this MDF key holder. It was fine after I have decoupage and do some shading…and then I started to have this crazy idea to use the Jo Sonja Crackle Medium (which I have tried earlier but didn’t give the result I want).

The thing with crackle medium applied on top of a finish artwork, is that in order to show the cracks, you have to rub in a contrast color. I was so silly to use a walnut stain and rub too much on the surface apart from the cracks. Somehow it ruined the finished product. It makes the surface of the board looks dirty/rustic which is not what I have in mind when I started this experiment..huhu!

I tried to touch up with softer color to clean up the dirty look but it turned out worse. This was taken before the touch up. Well, next time I should know better than to mess up too much with all these art medium..heh!

Gubahan Hantaran Bunga Stokin In Harian Metro

Remember the photo shoot for a local newspaper that I’ve been talking about for the past few months. After giving up on buying the paper every Wednesday, it finally got printed this week.

I didn’t even realize until I noticed a sudden spike of visitors on my blog stat. I asked friends on FB and one of the distant relatives told me that my gubahan bunga stokin on kotak mengkuang did come out in Harian Metro, Wednesday 11 Jan 2012.

Hubby tried to search online but the article didn’t have pictures. He went to the nearest newspaper kiosk in his office and luckily there were still copies of the day before papers..and he bought 3 copies..hehe!

Here is the picture of the newspaper clipping, I am yet to scan the original.

If the editor doesn’t reject it all, there will be 3 more of my gubahan hantaran to be featured in that segment.

Decoupage On Tin

I hardly do anything crafty just for the sake of personal usage. Reason being I am not the type of person who decorate my house and my crafty space..haha! I am more like a clutter freak and messy person in real life.

So when I bought the serviette with Cars design for my son’s birthday party, I have this idea on doing decoupage on the empty tin biskut. Yup, I have been doing decoupage since 2006 but I have never done any on food container like this round tin biskut.

The thing with decoupage is (or in this case the non 3D decoupage), the background color for the surface where you want to decoupage has to be in lighter tone, meaning you can’t choose dark color like dark green, dark purple, well, hope you get what I mean. So initially I gesso the surface in white and then later dab some yellow tone. After I have done sealing the serviette then I painted around the motif with the mix of red and gold acrylic.

I am planning to conduct another basic decoupage class in January 2012. So if you are interested to learn, let me know, leave a comment or email me. I will contact you once I have confirmed the date.

(Updated: The class for January will be on 22nd Jan, Sunday 3-5pm)

Bunga Dip Ros For Your Gubahan Hantaran

I’m not sure whether it will ever be published in the newspaper (I’m keeping hope high still). It’s been more than a month since the reporter came for the photo shoot.

I made this set of bunga dulang from bunga dip. You can learn how to assemble such basic pieces of bunga dulang if you attend my bunga dip class. The next session will be on Sunday, 27th Nov 2-5pm. Please contact if you are interested to learn. The fee is RM100, all materials inclusive. You can bring home whatever creation you make in the class.

I’ve seen people making bunga dip into table centerpiece and even bigger floral arrangement. I think I will do one soon for bunga tangan (hand bouquet).

The White And Gold Bunga Pahar Stokin

Finally, I completed them, all 70 pcs of the white and gold bunga pahar..clap clap!

You will never realize how time and energy consuming making those bunga telur until you do it yourself..huhu!

I have a client who told me that in an effort to save cost, the family decided to buy materials and decorated the goodies for an event. It turned out that it cost them more in term of effort and energy. Even the maids have to be pushed to help around to complete all the goodies..haha!

So if you are interested to order such custom made bunga pahar, please give me at least 2 months to get everything ready.

To the client, may everything goes smoothly as planned for your November wedding. Semoga kekal bahagia hingga ke syurga :)
