A House Is Not A Home..

We went to see our almost completed house last week after attending a friend’s Hari Raya open house. It seems that the sliding doors are up, the gate has been painted and even the windows were installed. So the plan to move in by next year is like 90% on track. Usually for a newly developed housing area, it takes around 2 years for the house to be completed. But in our case, the developer is using the build and sell plan so it will minimize the risk of non completion and other finance related problem to the house buyers.
We went to another friend’s house yesterday, attending his first Raya open house and house warming party. We even took the house tour since he has been sharing his home improvement ideas like the plaster ceiling fixtures, the wood laminated floor and kitchen cabinet.

I am yet to see any friend’s house with extravagant bathroom lighting fixtures. I have this dream one day to have my own bathroom the same standard of one in a hotel suite, at least with a separate shower, a bath tub, a large mirror for dressing and makeup area. Thanks to vanity lighting in hotel’s bathroom, my face always look flawless and more beautiful..haha!
Do you know why? When you have lighting like sconces at the side of the bathroom mirror and a row of vanity light at the top of the mirror, it’s not only give your bathroom a coordinated look but provides even lighting for both sides of your face. So when you look at yourself, you’ll see yourself as the stars do in their dressing room.
There are many choices when it comes to contemporary, modern bathroom lighting nowadays. Searching and reading on bathroom lighting tips online certainly help to give clear ideas on what I should invest into. I hope once my house is completed I will have enough budget to make sure at least I could turn the bathroom in the master bedroom to be as close as what I dream to have. I know it will take a lot of effort but in the end I’m sure it will be worth it to turn a house into a sanctuary to call my home.

Why Oh Why?
I seem to be out of ideas on what to do everyday..huhu..with no current project I just feel so bored at home. I can’t be spending the whole day before break fasting time, cooking in the kitchen. I usually spend about 1 hour the most to prepare and cook dinner unless I’m cooking some time consuming dish like rendang which might take more than 1 hour. Like Hubby always says I cook fast..haha!
Even the thought of cleaning up the room downstairs is too tiring (but that must be done by Hari Raya so that whoever coming will have place to solat and even for MIL to stay in during my confinement). I am telling myself I will pack up all those craft items in that room at night after berbuka but once berbuka I just feel really lazy and tired to move my butt from the sofa..heh!
I think I will put my mind and energy to clear up that room this weekend. It’s not much I know, just to clear up the mess on the carpet, on the bed, pack them up nicely, put in those pink boxes, stack the boxes somewhere, vacuum the carpet and when the time comes, change the bedsheet and pillowcase. Why do I always find house cleaning as the last thing for me to do on earth…huhu!
General view states that those who like to cook, hate cleaning, while those who love to clean, hate cooking..heh!

Books, Magazines & Papers Everywhere..
On average I buy like 3-4 magazines every month, book about 1-2 and papers (pamphlets, catalogs) that I collect throughout the years, would be enough to fire up the house..heh! Now that we are moving from the current house to our permanent residence (hopefully), I have to think on what to do with all those reading materials. And don’t mention about the craft materials I have, Hubby couldn’t even figure out how to pack all of them since everything is all mixed up - different colors, assorted items, different projects.
Since Hari Raya is coming soon, I have to do something with all the reading materials in my living hall. It seems to be everywhere, on the sofa, beside the sofa, on the coffee table(s) and it’s growing fast as I keep on buying more to fill up my leisure, no-project time. Not that I care about their constant appearance but I’m afraid if I don’t do something to keep them away, whoever coming to my house during Hari Raya won’t have place to sit.
How do people with a lot of books and magazines sort out their items and organize them properly? Even the bookshelves upstairs seem to be overloaded with my books and magazine collections. Don’t suggest to me to sell them to surat kabar lama..certain magazines like Pesona Pengantin, women magazines (Rasa, Keluarga, Mingguan Wanita, Jelita, Wanita, Women’s Weekly) with recipes are my constant references. And for craft related esp. scrapbooking, I refer to magazines like Scrapbooks ETC., Memory Makers and many more that I manage to get my hands on.
If only I have more rooms to be converted to a library cum junkyard, it will be a haven. Next time you come looking for me, if I’m missing, find me under the books and magazines..heh!

The Cinderella At Home
I am the Cinderella in the house for today, not the one in ball gown and horse carriage, but rather the one with the mop, broom and toilet disinfectant..huhu!
First I clear off the sink from last night dirty plates and frying pans. My all time favorite would be Sunlight Lime (the dark green one) for the dish washer. No, I don’t have the auto dish washer, I wash them manually using my two bare hands..heh! I tried the one with cucumber (Hubby said it’s good for hands) but those dish washing liquid failed to clear up all the oily mess.
Luckily my share of dirty laundry is not piling up so I decided to save my Dynamo and Softlan Ultra for another day of washing task. A reminder to myself, need to buy Dynamo on the next trip to Jusco.
The biggest achievement for me today would be the mopping of my kitchen floor and the stairs..I really hate mopping (at last, I have been planning to mop them for like 3 months..huhu!) I think I only mop like 2-4 times a year..haha! I use Ajax Fabuloso and I love the smell. Due to my lack of maintenance to the kitchen floor, I have to sweep it twice and mop twice..huhu! Perhaps I will be more diligent to mop the kitchen floor once a week from now onwards…(you bet!)
After dinner I decided to brush the toilet and the bathroom floor in our master bedroom. Thanks to Kiwi Kleen and the fact that Hubby has cleaned the bathroom about 1 month ago, it was a breeze. No hard to remove stain unlike my kitchen floor.
So Cinderella task is complete for the week and she will be on leave from Friday to Sunday..heh!

My New Workspace
As mentioned earlier, I went to IKEA with Hubby last 2 weeks to find a work surface to put my new notebook on. So here is the picture of the TV bench now turn to work desk..heh!

Hubby got one for himself and now our living hall has no more empty space, with my craft tables, craft shelves, boxes of craft stuffs..huhu! Where is the plan to turn the room upstairs into my craft studio? I guess I just love the vast and airy space we have down here, where I can see all the birds chirping outside and possibly run to get my parcels from the Mr Postman..heh!
Oh, come to think of it, I have two packets at the post office to be collected. Good thing Hubby is working UK time this week, so we just need to wake up a bit early tomorrow to go to the Cawangan Serahan. Perhaps they are the felt flowers and my painting brushes.
Why does it feel like this week passed by so slow? Or is it just me? Must be the weather..huh!
