Father-Son Outing

My son is not so attached to me these days. In fact today, he didn’t ask for breast milk at all. On weekend if he realized that Abah is at home, once he opens his eyes he will go and look for Abah in the other room.

On weekdays, after checking out Abah in the room and realize that Abah is at work, he will keep on reminding himself that Abah will come back from work in the evening. Sometimes he will ask me to dial Abah’s number and he will listen to Abah’s voice…he won’t really talk on the phone.

When Abah reaches home, he will narrate what he has done for the day. He will tell what he has eaten, whether he disturbs Mama in the kitchen and Mama scolds him and then he will ask Abah for things like toys, M&M or whatever comes in his big mind to be bought at the nearest 7 Eleven.

The outing with Abah is his favorite. On Saturday, they went grocery shopping together. On Sunday, they went to Big Apple in Tesco to buy a dozen donuts and on the way home, passing by the nursery, he told Abah that they should stop and buy Mama bunga kertas since Mama likes bunga kertas…haha! (A few weeks ago we went there and I bought a pot of bougainvilla, so perhaps that’s what stuck in his memory that Mama likes bunga kertas..hehe..)

I hope they will have many more father-son outings as my son grows up. I really want them to be very close and have a great, strong and loving father and son bonding.

Paradise And Sempurna In The House

Remember I told you about my new hobby for 2012. After almost a week, the rose plants start to bloom. However I made a mistake when I put them under a shaded area. They actually need 4-6 hours of direct sun light.

This one is called paradise. It should be dark pink with a deeper color tone on the edge of the petals. Due to the shaded location and lack of direct sun light, it has bloomed into a soft pink..huhu!

So today I have moved all my rose plants into a spot where they can get direct sun light. We’ll see how they fare in the new spot.

This one is called sempurna. She blooms today. The petals should be a deep cup shape. It’s very fragrant.

Just hope more rose buds will bloom in the next few days.

New Gardening Hobby – Planting Rose

Before any of you start to drool, these roses are not mine. I snapped these pictures while visiting the rose garden of an online seller in Seremban 2 last weekend.

This is what they call chilli red. I bought one pot so just hope mine will one day blooms like in the above picture.

The owner of the garden told me most of the roses name, not the botanical term, more like common terms those rose lovers in Malaysia came up with.

I think this peach rose is called cinta. I bought like 9 polybags of different roses to start my rose garden. I even bought the organic rose food and rosecare set invented by a local Malaysian.

I will keep you updated once my roses start to grow. Just hope that I have luck in planting roses this year..heh!

Decoupage On Key Holder

We didn’t go anywhere far during the last long weekend so I decided to finish what I have started with this MDF key holder. It was fine after I have decoupage and do some shading…and then I started to have this crazy idea to use the Jo Sonja Crackle Medium (which I have tried earlier but didn’t give the result I want).

The thing with crackle medium applied on top of a finish artwork, is that in order to show the cracks, you have to rub in a contrast color. I was so silly to use a walnut stain and rub too much on the surface apart from the cracks. Somehow it ruined the finished product. It makes the surface of the board looks dirty/rustic which is not what I have in mind when I started this experiment..huhu!

I tried to touch up with softer color to clean up the dirty look but it turned out worse. This was taken before the touch up. Well, next time I should know better than to mess up too much with all these art medium..heh!

The Year of Dragon

The last few days were really a bliss. Hubby was on long public holiday since Chinese New Year fell on Monday and Tuesday. The initial plan during the long hols was for me to learn how to drive our car. It has been 3 years now that I haven’t drive any car, never feel the need to do so, am not so fond of driving in the first place.

We didn’t do much to start the year of dragon.err, well, at least for me. Been doing groceries shopping, went to the zoo, managed to buy a new pot of pokok pandan and bunga melur to replace the dead one, went out for late lunch on days that I didn’t feel like cooking..oh, and cleaned up the craft room, at least 1/4 of it.

I did some craft work over the long weekend and shared them on FB. Here is one example, it is a decoupage box I finished over the weekend.

And these are the handmade bookmarks for those who buy craft books. I called them my thank-you-series bookmarks..heh!

So how do you start your year of dragon?
