Look Out For The Star

*This post is written for astromart.com*

Read all these digital camera reviews at astromart.com. This is the first time I get to know that a DSLR camera can take star images far, far away in the galaxy..haha!

Seriously I’m not joking. I never know that a DSLR camera could take such images, of course being astronomy illiterate like me, I wouldn’t know what kind of star, what is nebula, what emission is all about.

But still having something else to use my DSLR for, that’s a new info for me. The branch of photography for astronomy goes after the term of astrophotography. All these while, serious people in astronomy imaging use CCD cameras. Now with the availability of DSLR, we the newbies could try a hand or two in this astrophotography.

This is one of the sample pictures taken by a DSLR camera.

Star clouds in Sagittarius. Canon Digital Rebel with Sigma 105-mm f/2.8 lens. Stack of three 5-minute exposures at f/4, ISO 200. Focused by using the LCD screen as described in the article. Cropped and reduced from a larger picture.

While you are on the site, Astromart.com, check out all the astronomy ads, read the latest news articles and the current reviews of newest telescopes and equipment. I’m sure you will get more info about astronomy than in the basic class you attended long time ago in school..haha!

Pangkor Island Pt.II

The only thing that I love when I get to travel is the opportunity to take as much pictures as I like…hehe thanks to my Sony T30 and Nikon D50. But I think this one has been taken by my Sony T30.

This was taken from the balcony of my hotel room. Luckily the company gave us all Pacific Wing rooms otherwise we wouldn’t have the chance to view the beach from our balcony. For me the overall rating for the resort is good, the food is good, the service etc. Maybe because we were so packed with activities for the 2-day trip and I did not have enough time to lounge around make me feel that the trip was not that great.

Hopefully next time I would be able to go to another resort in Pangkor that the van driver claimed to be the most expensive in the island…haha!

One Binocular For Me

*This post is written for americanmarinesupply.com*

While on the boat to the island trip, I was thinking what if one day I could afford to buy a private boat, would I own one? Perhaps I will just buy one to spend the money on something that money could buy, haha! But in reality I don’t really love traveling and moving around on boat, there’s something about the sea that I don’t like, the bottomless deep ocean makes me scared every time I think about drowning.

If you know anyone who loves boats, marine and ships, this is your chance to give him/her something related to nautical jewelry. It could be a pendant in ships wheel and anchor shape, bracelet or ring with seashells design.

But for me I think I will take a binocular for a gift. Wouldn’t it be great to have one high-performance binocular that is perfect for extended viewing. I could see all the small islands in the surrounding area, or fisherman on the boat catching the sea products or view the flying seagulls.

Check out what else they have at the site, you might never know how much you could learn about all the marine and boating equipment. Who knows it might trigger a new interest in life for you!

The Pangkor Trip

I finally have all the pictures that I need so I will start this entry with one of them..hehe!

The journey started on Saturday morning, though if given the choice I would rather spend the morning sleeping than traveling..huhu! We drove to Shah Alam and from there we carpooled with another 3 cars to Lumut. After stopping here and there for brunch and snack we arrived a little bit later than those people that came with the 2 buses.

This is what it looks like just as the boat arrived at the private jetty for Pangkor Island Beach Resort.

Since we missed lunch at the Lumut jetty, Hubby and I decided to order room service to save the time since at 4pm the team building activities will start. The food was OK by my standard but overall I don’t really like the island, I don’t know why maybe because I’ve been to a better island and resort..hehe..

But still a short weekend away must be utilized fully, right! I will write more in Part II later ok..

A New DSLR?

*This post is written for ritzcamera.com*

A few months ago, a friend of mine bought a Nikon D40x for her photography adventure. I already bought D50 last year and I was quite happy, of course there is so much more about the camera and the techniques that I need to learn and master, but honestly having a digital camera is an experience like no other.

I also own a Sony T30 just in case I need something compact to put inside my handbag and just grab out in time to take pictures (maybe while on the road, at the restaurant etc). This is one of the pictures I took recently while I was in the city waiting for the traffic to move.

I also use the digital camera for my products shooting. Since I own a handicraft business, having a reliable digital camera would help boost the sales by letting the clients see how the products look like in details before they decide to place the orders.

Personally for me, having a digital camera is really a good investment. You might travel to a great place or see such a captivating view and yet when you do not have any picture to look later, your vivid memories of such place and moment will diminish slowly in your own mind. Having a digital camera gives you the freedom to snap as many pictures as you like and later if you are not satisfied with the quality of the pictures you could always delete them and keep the best for the rest of your travel journal.

I think the next camera I would like to buy is a Sony DSLR-A100K. I already have a Nikon DSLR so I would like to have some other brands to compare. I would also love to get a wide angle lens and a macro lens to complete my DSLR accessories collection.
