The Blackout Weekend

Last week while taking a break from my bunga telur making task, we decided to watch Thai horror movie Dorm.

About half way in the movie suddenly there was power outage and the whole housing area in my street had massive blackout.

Even the phone line was out and Hubby had to call TNB on his handphone.

It was not even 11pm that time and we were so pissed off with the heat and the mosquitoes attack. We tried to stay still and do nothing but after like 5 minutes it just became very restless.

As usual, whenever you are in need of something you will realize that you do not have enough stock of it.

In this case, we ran out of normal candle supply. As you can see in the picture that was like 3 very short candles on the stand, burning itself.

I have to use my (expensive) scented candle in the glass just in case we really out of candle before the power came back.

Since I just watched a horror movie, I would never want to stay in the dark till the electricity is back..haha!

I even dozed off for 10 minutes before the mosquitoes started to attack like crazy. I used conventional way to burn the mosquito coil but it seems that it was only good to make all the clothes in the bedroom smell terribly. :(

Luckily the power came back around 12:30am and I was so happy to get back to my blogging and craft tasks.

I hope that this weekend will never have such outage. I don’t know which one is worse, having no electricity or having no water? But for me not having Internet connection is the worst of all..haha!

News Circle-Congoo

If you would like to be in the know and share your niche topics with the rest of the world, this is your chance to create your own News Blog.

Congoo.com has launched a new service that will allow people to create News Circle on topic of their interest based on 480 predetermined categories. This customized news site could be anything from hobbies to real estate to E-commerce.

The stories for the chosen topics will be pulled from 25,000 news sources. Among the news sources are CNN, Washington Post, Bloomberg, International Herald Tribune and many more.

I have created one News Circle on Arts and Culture but I have not come out with my own keyword selection. Once I’m done, I will embed the widget on all of my blogs so that more people will have the chance the share the news related to my interest.

Since each News Circle has a section that allows the owner to add links back to their site, it will be a great marketing tool for me to promote my SOHO website and blogs to others.

Furthermore, Congoo.com will also start promoting the most popular News Circles to the over one million monthly visitors of its network of news sites in May, so I think this will be a fantastic deal not to be missed.

Workstation What?

Actually while transferring pictures from my Sony T30 to my workstation a week ago, I decided to snap a few pictures of my desk.

Just in case one of these days I’m out of topic to blog about, at least I can post the picture for others to see how a desk for a person who work from home looks like..haha!

Then I found one contest from Mr.Gary Lee blog and I decided it’s just right for me to post about my messy desk now.

myworkstation.jpg

It’s an old desk. I had it since I was in University about 6-7 years ago.

The monitor I got it from my husband after he decided to buy an LCD. Come together with the monitor is his collection of anime character of Doraemon.

The CPU is under the desk, bought it 4 years ago when I realized that my old CPU could no longer run the Sims 2.

Actually my SOHO is much bigger than this but since I share the room with hubby and he’s very concerned about showing the whole area to the public (he even locks the room whenever we go out on weekend for fear that thief will break in..haha..God forbid!), so you have to be satisfied with this corner of mine.

No worries as I am moving to my own craft cum SOHO room soon.

It’s just that I am so lazy to dismantle everything and re arrange everything in the new room plus I love the air cond in this room.

See the air cond remote, it’s on my desk together with the glass of Issey Miyake scented candle, a bottle of glitter, a desk calendar, one pandan box that I took upstairs to measure and never put back in the display cabinet and some bits and pieces of rough paper and sticky notes that I never bother to throw away.

Oh, the Starbucks mug? I don’t drink coffee, it’s a cereal drink for my lunch.

When I see this picture in this post, I should have taken a better one. NVM, just imagine this like a celebrity face without makeup..haha!

Troubled Teens?

* This post is written for ParentingTeens.com*

Remember how it feels to be a teenager.

It was the years of confusing choices, being thrown in the world of being accepted or not being accepted, the stressful peer pressure and the need to excel in whatever pursuit of teenage years.

Personally I don’t think being a teenager is easy, what more to be a good parents to teens.

It’s the time of life when you realized that your parents understand nothing about you because they live in different time zone, leading a different teenage life in their era.

So whatever they thought they know best for you, it’s not really the hype of your era..haha!

So if you are parents to a bunch of teenagers or kids reaching teen age, have a look at ParentingTeens.com.

This is a good place for you to find Teen Help For Troubled Teens. Or even if your kids are not in the troubled group, it’s good to have informative guide in life.

In all my years studying in boarding school, I’ve seen so many cases where the parents sent away their troubled teen child to boarding school in order to let the school authority groom and help alleviate the “disease”. In most cases, the troubled kids not only make things worse for themselves but yet they became a strong bad influence to others as well.

If only those parents could spare some of their precious time in their daily busy life and read this article on taking the time for your teens. I agree with the author completely. If parents as manager in the office could spend the time to listen to other’s problem, why can’t they do the same thing for their own children.

You choose to have kids, so you should be responsible for them. No matter how angelic or troublesome your kids turn out to be.

How Well Do You Listen?

My husband complained that I hardly pay attention to whatever he’s telling me. Maybe it’s true.

308437_tv_p.jpg

It’s not that I’m not listening, it’s just sometimes I have so much in my mind and it’s hard to switch from one function to another.

But believe me, every time he said something, I do hear and listen to the inner voice of his words.

I digested it over and over again in my head, trying to formulate ways to make it work better.

It’s the same thing I do for my business.

I listen to what the customers are trying to convey. Some people are bad in writing emails and I try to understand what actually they want.

For me people deserve to be understood, no matter how stupid the questions or requests might sound.

I will always try to be a good listener.

Like the motto of HSBC when I was working and attending their introductory course, we listen, we understand and we deliver.
